Guided Learning Project: Virtual Overseas Community Project (OCP) (Vietnam) & Excel mini Project
Action Plan Timelines & Deliverables

Summary & Reflection
Overseas Community Project (OCP):
Overall, it was a really enriching and meaningful experience for me as I never thought I would have the chance to work with people from other country on a project together. This exchange program provided me the opportunity to further develop myself in areas such as communicative and collaborative as I had to work together with others who have different cultural values. The program has provided me a priceless experience as it has taught me how to facilitate a lesson and conduct breakout room activities - a golden opportunity that is hard to come by as it helps to develop my initiative and leadership skill.

Aside from working together with the Vietnamese students, I was able to interact with them to learn and understand more about their culture and daily life in Vietnam. Even though the OCP lasted around 2 weeks, this program has become one of the most memorable program that I have participated in Temasek Polytechnic. If I am given another opportunity to partake in another similar program, I will not hesitate to sign up for it again.
Excel Mini Project:
I am grateful that I am given the opportunity to work on Excel for my mini project. This mini project has allowed me to conduct further research into Excel, a Microsoft application that is required in majority of the jobs today. I have learnt new and relevant skills using Excel, boosting my technical skills, which will be beneficial to me when I start my internship in the future.

Apart from gaining hard skills such as Microsoft Excel skills, I have gained soft skills such as stress management, perseverance, and time management which I can apply on my future school project and work project.
Some of the difficulties I faced during the project:
-
Initially, I was unsure of how to properly create and format a guidebook.
-
Being the only male member in the group, I was very nervous and awkward as I was not familiar with most of the other members.
-
I have no prior knowledge about the Excel topics that I was tasked with creating a guidebook on.

To overcome the difficulties I faced, I:
-
Went online to view and learn how guidebooks are properly formatted. I searched online for examples of guidebook.
-
Got out of my comfort zone and become more initiative and started conversation with the other members to know them better, which helped to ease my nervousness and I became more comfortable and confident when interacting with them.
-
I went online to conduct research on the topics that I was unsure of, I also watched YouTube tutorials to gain a better understanding of it.
Overall both projects have benefitted me greatly as it has allowed me to develop and be equipped with both soft and hard skills at the same time. I am very grateful to have Ms Wong as my Learning Facilitator who has dedicated much of her time and effort to ensure that the Overseas Community Project run smoothly. I would like thank Ms Wong again for guiding me throughout my guided learning journey.
